Wavio Beta Community Guidelines

Version: Beta 0.9 Effective date: 21 August 2026

Wavio is intended to help boaters connect in a respectful, privacy-conscious community. These Guidelines apply to profiles, boat details, check-ins, place labels, Waves, messages, invitations, images, reports and offline conduct arising directly from a Wavio interaction.

Be respectful

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, shame or discriminate against another person. Hate speech, sexual harassment, coercion and encouragement of harm are prohibited.

Respect a clear “no,” a block, a declined Wave and another person's decision not to reply or meet.

Be authentic

Do not impersonate a person, vessel, business, authority or rescue service. Do not knowingly provide materially misleading identity, boat, check-in or safety information.

Wavio does not generally verify identity, boating competence, licences or vessel ownership. A profile is not proof of any of these things.

Protect privacy and location

Do not publish another person's private information or location without permission. Do not use Wavio to monitor, infer or expose another person's routine, home, berth or movements.

Do not place names, contact details, private-home labels, vessel-specific tracking information, harassment, advertising or misleading text in a place label unless the text is the legitimate public name of that place.

Keep communication safe and lawful

Do not use Wavio for fraud, scams, spam, unlawful solicitation, illegal goods or services, exploitation, malicious files, security abuse or attempts to bypass access controls.

Do not send unwanted sexual content or repeatedly contact someone who has declined interaction.

Meet carefully

Meeting another user is your decision. Prefer a public and populated location, tell someone your plans, maintain your own transport and communication options, and leave if you feel uncomfortable. Never rely on Wavio as an emergency or location-monitoring service.

Respect boating and local communities

Follow maritime law, harbour and marina rules, private-property restrictions and environmental protections. Do not encourage unsafe seamanship, impairment while operating a vessel or interference with emergency activity.

Reports and enforcement

Use the in-app reporting and blocking controls for conduct covered by these Guidelines. Reports are not an emergency channel; contact local emergency services for immediate danger.

Wavio may investigate and take proportionate action, including a warning, content or feature restriction, temporary suspension or account removal. Serious or repeated conduct may result in stronger action. Where appropriate and safe, Wavio may explain a decision and allow the affected person to request review.

Knowingly false or retaliatory reports may themselves violate these Guidelines. Wavio may preserve limited evidence where necessary for safety, security, legal obligations or claims.
